Homeware Design

In this society, people like products that can make their life easier with a good appearance. In this project, I want to design a product that people can use every single day and can make people’s life easier and more convenient, so I decided to design a cordless hair dryer that is light and easy to carry. 

Design Brief

A cordless hairdryer is more convenient than a wired hairdryer because it allows for portability and on-the-go usage.

The cordless hair dryer can make people who have pets or kids more convenient because pets and kids usually like to run around when they are drying their hair. The cordless hair dryer is significant now because in this society people like things that can make their life more convenient, and cordless hair dryers are one of the products that can make people’s life easier and more convenient.

A cordless hairdryer device comprising:

  • An ergonomically shaped handle 

  • An air cone

  • A rechargeable lithium-type battery pack that releasably attaches to a battery mount on the back of the hairdryer, temperature controls, blower speed controls, DC motor, heater, and battery pack charger.

  • Hairdryers use a metal heating element that is made of nichrome, an alloy of nickel and chromium.

After discussing the final appearance with my instructors I decide to make the cordless hairdryer a handhold feature by using cartons.

The shape of the sketch model that is made by carton is too sharp and rectangular, so I change the material to blue foam so the shape of the cordless hairdryer can be round and smooth.
